Located just northeast of the intersection of Five Mile and Northville Rd, Whisperwood is a subdivision consisting of 110 homes spread out on quiet winding streets and cul-de-sacs. Constructed between 1978 and 1979, these homes are mostly ranch and two story construction, ranging from 1400 to 2700 square feet. Exteriors of homes consist of brick and vinyl or aluminum, with two car garages standard.

Whisperwood homes feature hardwood floors in the entryway, with formal dining rooms, extensive kitchens, a den and first floor laundry rooms. They also come with 3 to 4 bedrooms, 2 to 3.1 bathrooms, and a finished basement. Houses in this neighborhood are highly desirable in the Northville area, and sell quickly when put on the market.

Location

Whisperwood is in Northville Township, a very popular area for families raising children and those looking for an affluent community with a small town feel. The township is located in the northwest corner of Wayne County, the most populous county in Michigan. Northville Twp is quite large for a township at roughly 16.6 square miles total, and a population of 28,497 as of the 2010 census.

There are several places for recreation and entertainment nearby that make this area particularly desirable. In fact, Northville is one of the best communities for active families and individuals in the entire county. It is also centrally located in the Detroit Metropolitan Area, with quick access to the extensive highway and expressway system for easy commuting, shopping and more.

Less than a mile south of Whisperwood is Hines Drive Park, which is the largest and most popular park run by Wayne County. This park follows Hines Drive Parkway that runs from downtown Northville all the way to Dearborn. It includes hiking trails, bicycle paths, multiple dog parks and even a skatepark. During the holiday season, the park is host to the Wayne County Lightfest, which brings in visitors from all over the Tri-County area.

A few short miles northwest of the neighborhood is downtown Northville, which features a wide range of entertainment and dining opportunities. The downtown area is unique and charming, with Victorian style buildings and a small town feel. In the summer the City of Northville hosts Arts and Acts, a three day art festival which brings in considerable crowds and takes up most of the main streets in the downtown area.

School Districts

Whisperwood has access to some of the best schools in Michigan, thanks to Northville’s excellent public education system. This school district is made up of six elementary schools, three middle schools and a single high school. Northville schools also boast excellent athletic programs, as well as music and art education.

In addition to Northville Public Schools, Whisperwood also is surrounded by excellent private schools and institutions to ensure a child’s best possible education. These include traditional religious schools such as Northville Christian School, Our Lady of Victory and St. Paul Lutheran. In addition, there are other non-religious affiliated schools such as Northville Montessori Center, Early Childhood University and Brightmont Academy.
